SONYO seeks to influence policy makers on inclusiveness of youth issues in the policies and development blueprints at local, national and even international levels. Programming activities focus on development of platforms for youth civic action and participation, consolidation of youth movements and voices for change of discriminatory economic and political structures.

Gender is considered both a cross-cutting programming theme and also stand-alone, as it forms one of the issues dealt with as a factor determining social, economic and political rights. The target group include youth masses, government bureaucrats and private sector.
